Gathering Together

This year’s Summit is designed to bring together even more urban growers, backyard gardeners, new farmers, educators, researchers, nonprofit organizations, food entrepreneurs, community leaders, and local food supporters to share knowledge, build relationships, and continue strengthening local food systems. The 4th Annual DIG Summit will include two tracks with multiple sessions during the day:
• Growing Food will focus on the practical knowledge, innovative techniques, and sustainable practices that help people successfully grow food in backyards, community gardens, school gardens, and urban farms. Sessions include hands-on skills and tools growers can apply in their own operations.
• Growing Community will focus on sessions showing how growing food can strengthen communities, and will explore partnerships, education, policies, and programs that expand access to local food to build stronger, more resilient neighborhoods. Sessions are designed to inspire collaboration and provide a platform to discover solutions to obstacles found within the urban food environment.

The 2026 DIG Summit, “Cultivating Local Food Systems,” kicks off Monday morning, October 19, with Agroecologist and Founder of the Regenerative Agriculture Alliance Reginaldo Haslett-Marroquin delivering the keynote. All attendees are also encouraged to network and connect at the Summit reception on Sunday, October 18 from 4:30 – 7pm, hosted at Marca-Brava Spirits and catered by Garden Cafe (RSVP required).
